Spring 2023

Annual Foundations Exhibition
January 27 – February 10 | First Friday Art Walk: February 3, 6 - 9 PM

The Annual Foundations Exhibition features work from the department’s foundations courses. Works in this exhibition demonstrate students’ understanding of various artistic concepts in two- and three-dimensional design, drawing, as well as the development of artistic skills through classroom instruction.

2023 Annual Juried Student Exhibition, juried by Caleb Taylor      
February 23 – March 10 | First Friday Art Walk: March 3, 6 - 9 PM

The Annual Juried Student Exhibition features work from the breadth of our department’s undergraduate and graduate students. Juried by Kansas City-based artist, Caleb Taylor, we are also excited continue the legacy of Mark J Hall with the Mark J Hall Best in Show Award, in addition to many other monetary awards.

Peter Bankov Poster Exhibition
March 27 – April 14

Peter Bankov is a Prague-based designer, illustrator, and teacher with an impressive body of work—his series titled I make posters every day resulted in 400-poster outcome, which was later published as a book. He has received numerous international awards and has been a juror for various international competitions. His art projects are part of private collections in Moscow, London, Beijing, as well as museum collections in USA, Germany, Netherlands, France, Finland, and Poland.

Every semester, the Brick City Gallery is pleased to host an exhibition of work by graduating students from the Department of Art and Design. The spring exhibition showcases the talent and skill of students who have spent years developing an artistic practice that will carry them into their professional careers.

Brick City Gallery receptions

Opening receptions at Brick City Gallery are scheduled in conjunction with the Downtown Gallery Association's First Friday Art Walk.

Admission is free and open to all.
